Spring is coming! I've seen more birds and geese in the area. Fat robins, greener grass, tulips starting to come up all say it's on it's way (in spite of the temps in the 30s). The forest preserves are calling. Next month Almond Marsh has free bird walks where you can see the Heron Rookery. I love that one and I make sure to see it each year.
For now, I'll post my last walk to Independence Grove from February. Brrr.
This is what was going on inside. I had paper whites blooming in my house. |
This is what was going on outside! It was a little windy and cold. |
We were one of the few out that day. The lake was frozen, snow still on the ground. The temperature wasn't too cold - around mid thirties, but the wind would catch us. It was beautiful, though. the snow quieted the preserve. I haven't walked a lot in the preserves in the winter, so it was quiet without all the little critters. A sparrow was a welcome friend in one of the bushes on our way.
After the cold, we headed over the Franks for hot wings to warm us up!! What a treat.
I'll be out there again soon. Stay warm and enjoy the outdoors.
